Groups
Members of the Tulsa Coalition of Reason share a common like-minded philosophy despite their diverse backgrounds and heritages.
Some members are also members of other reason-focused organizations in the city of Tulsa.
We unite together to defend and promote reason.
Discrimination and prejuidice against atheists, humanists, nonbelievers, non-theists, pantheists, and secularists exists. Treated as second rate citizens and believed to be less deserving of American citizenship than any other group. The message of the Coalition of Reason is to let the nation know--we are here.
We are in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as other cities and communities. We believe in the Establishment Clause that permits the natural right to choose or reject a religion. We reject religions. And mostly for educated reasons.
Most have studied religions and have found that historically religion proves to be nothing more than a man-made fantasy that perpuates a dishonest and abusive set of policies that hold humans from obtaining their full potential. In the name of a god, women are enslaved, homosexuals are executed, and the rational minded are burned at the stake. Not to mention the endless wars against an opposing or different religion.
So society frowns upon the freethinkers--atheists, humanists, nonbelievers, non-theists, pantheists, and secularists--when they should listen and take notes. It is difficult to self-identify, we all know this, and most have experienced the wrath of angry family and friends when have came out of the closet and acknowledged our lack of faith or our rejection of Christ Jesus or to simply confirm that we have doubts about the existence of a god.
We probably all want to be out the closet but the reality is that not all of us can be. The loss of a spouse, children, a job, or even a position of politics in the community is a definite and unfortunate reality for some of us. The pain of being in the closet is more bearable than the pain of loss.
Yet even those of us who do remain closested, because of situations beyond our control, can help the freethought community. Anonymous contributions to our cause has already benefited the Tulsa Coalition of Reason.
