About Us

The Northwest Freethought Coalition is an informal group representing various Freethought, Atheist, Agnostic, Humanist, Naturalist and other secular groups in the Pacific Northwest. We exist to support our members' common interests and to educate the public about Freethought principles and worldviews. We believe that science and reason lead to more reliable knowledge than dogma and faith.
The Coalition does not offer membership to individuals. However, anyone who shares our views or is interested in learning more about who we are and what we do should consider joining one or more of the Coalition member groups. The hands-on work related to Coalition events is conducted by individual members of these Freethought organizations, and they need your help. Click HERE to learn more about each organization and how to join.
The Coalition is affiliated with the United Coalition of Reason (United CoR), a national organization that works to raise the visibility of local groups in the community of reason. Nationally, United CoR does this by conducting campaigns which highlight the fact that nontheists live in every community across America. Locally, United CoR promotes informal cooperation among local groups, hosting websites, providing group leaders with public relations training, and funding publicity campaigns. With the generous financial support of United CoR, the Northwest Freethought Coalition has been able to sponsor a billboard campaign early in 2010. Click HERE for more information.
Coalition meetings are held regularly and are currently chaired by Ron Renard, President of the Humanists of North Puget Sound. To contact NWFC directly, send an email to Ron at foxheart1@gmail.com.
